CCPAC awarded ACA L.L. Bean
Club Fostered Stewardship Grant
for June 25th Boardman Lake Cleanup

We have received a $700 grant for the Watershed Center Grand Traverse Bay June 25th cleanup of Boardman Lake. Many of you are familiar with the annual downtown cleanup led by the Traverse Area Realtors; this year the Watershed Center has taken the leadership role. The scope of the event is in direct response to findings from a 2003 survey that revealed a dead zone at the south end of the lake; this cleanup is significantly different, a huge undertaking, and deserves our support.

Experienced divers from the Grand Traverse County Sheriff's office have tagged large items for removal - remnants from irresponsible dumping over the years. The Watershed Center's Baykeeper tugboat, additional boats with winches and flatbed barges will be launched from Hull Park behind the library to retrieve the tagged items.

CCPAC members can help in many ways - paddle and clear the lake's shoreline, paddle or walk the downtown riverbanks or help as general volunteer for the event.

This is the same day as the CCPAC Moving Water Course. For those that aren't involved in that class, we encourage your involvement and support. All volunteers will receive an event t-shirt, complimentary lunch and refreshments.

Date: June 25
Time: 9am - ?
